The FINISH LINE is in sight! As some of you know, the closet project started a week ago, removing all the previous items & turning it into a clothing closet. Yesterday, the next step in the journey was heading to the Container store to get a closet system. If you missed it, I discussed it a little bit in my previous blog called LIMITED SPACE?. So, off to the Container Store a.k.a. my "happy place", I went. If you, too, love to organize, you would enjoy every aisle. Here are a few pics from my trip...LOVE LOVE LOVE it! Want to ORGANIZE? Like CLEVER WAYS TO STORE "odds & ends"? Need to CLEAN UP the clutter? It's got almost every gadget you need to accomplish it in trendy, fun & unique styles. |
ELFA projects are as EASY at 1-2-3.
ONE: Call the #800 listed on their site with closet measurements so they can assist you with the design. They will design the system to fit your needs for FREE & send you the design to approve.
TWO: Once design is approved. You can order the design via consultant or head into the store & speak to one of the employees & they will process the order for you.
THREE: They will give you a set time to come & pick it up. They will load it all for you.
***Either THEY will install (for a fee) or you can easily install this system.
***TRUST ME - some of the happiest people in retail work at the CONTAINER STORE. They LOVE what they do & it shows - maybe that is why they are listed on of the TOP 100 places to work for the last 15 yrs.

ONCE I WAS HOME...here's what we did to complete PROJECT ELFA:
1. First, we took down the OLD closet system.
We prepped the walls (patched up the old holes).
Next, I wanted to paint a couple of the walls. So...

Next, I wanted to paint a couple of the walls. So...
2. We headed to LOWE's to pick a color.
Normally, I would take the paint swatches home and test the color in the room, but time was of the essence.
Picking color is a challenge for a lot of people - it's a challenge for me, too at times.
I knew I wanted a color that brightened the room since it was a walk-in closet without windows.
There are many sites out there where you can play with colors to see what a room looks like before heading into the store.

So, I ended up picking the color WEATHERED GLASS . PERFECT!
(I think, Eddie Bauer color in & used Valspar Signature Paint - Satin Finish)

Although it was late, I was determined to get the paint on the wall.
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! Exhausted headed to bed anxious to start the installation in the morning.
So this morning, we started to install the ELFA system
3. THIRD, we hung the top strip at the top of the wall.

4. Next, the vertical strips were added followed by the brackets & shelving.
Once the shelving was all placed on the wall.
It was time for the fun to begin adding & organizing the clothing, bins, shoes and laundry baskets, etc.
TAKE A PEEK!
5. BEFORE/AFTER. I wish I had the BEFORE BEFORE picture from LAST week when it was a supply closet.
BEFORE: Closet once I moved the clothes into the closet. Not too bad but a lot of wasted space above.

AFTER: Little by little. I still have piles in the other room to add, but here's the progress so far.
I'll keep working to finish it up & clean up the MESS in the other room, but I am loving the outcome so far.
