I JUST LOVE MASON JARS...don't you? For some reason, they make me smile when I see them. They whisper "simple" & yet are so practical. For some reason, I think drinks even taste a little better drinking from a Mason jar. :) I know, I know, they are used for canning foods, but oh, what a long and "creative" way we've come from only using them for canning. DID YOU KNOW??? |
The Mason jar was invented and patented in 1858.
(You may be interested in reading about how they canned prior to refrigeration. Whether or not it was safe.)
So onto the inventor...
The inventor was from Philadelphia & a tinsmith named John Landis Mason. Hence the name!
Mason jars are everywhere.

Last Spring, I was honored to help my niece set up for her graduation open house. We both LOVE to decorate. She discovered so many unique yet simple ideas in the oh so WONDERFUL world of Pinterest.
(If you are someone who has never checked it out - YOU MUST!)
At her open house, each guest was served a drink of water, lemonade or tea in a Mason jar.
There were empty bins the guests could toss their lids if they didn't want to be bothered by them.
Upon leaving, the guests were encouraged to take the Mason jar home as a little gift.
Clever idea & less clean up!
There are so many interesting ways to utilize Mason jars other than it's original intended use.
Yesterday, I stumbled across this blog SOMEWHAT SIMPLE and loved browsing through the many ways others have invented to use Mason jars.

Are you somewhat inspired? I AM!!!
With Fall in the air, I can think up so many ideas of my own for any upcoming fall activities or events.
For example, how much more fun it would be to have cider served in Mason jars with cinnamon sticks or twine tied around the top with a tag saying "ENJOY" or "HAPPY FALL" or just plain "APPLE CIDER".
Another idea, you could package up a recipe for simmering spices & give as gifts or your favorite fall cookie ingredients to give as a little thank you gift to someone you know.
The ideas are endless.
As the weather gets cool, cozy up to ideas that will make your Fall all the more memorable.
